Job Summary

Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for a temporary Doctoral Research Associate. This position is responsible for environmental samples monitoring for organic and inorganic pollutants including radio nuclides for the DOE/EPA funded research. Coordinates the activities of the environmental justice workshops on hazardous waste management education and community health. The Environmental Science Program is one of five baccalaureate programs in the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences at Savannah State University. This broad-based interdisciplinary program offers specialized courses such as contaminant hydrology, ecotoxicology, environmental chemistry, solid and hazardous waste management, environmental health, and environmental radiation. Program facilities/equipment includes HPLC, GC, LC-MS, ICPMS, AA, ICP-OES, Liquid Scintillation Counter, and Beta Counter, etc. Employee may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned PhD in environmental science or related field with emphasis on environmental toxicology and waste management. Experience using GC, LC-MS, ICPMS, HPLC, ICP-OES, and AA with scholarly publications is highly desirable. This position is initially for one year and may be extended for two or more years with satisfactory progress subject to the availability of federal funds. Background and/or credit check may be required.
