Job Summary

Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Asst. Vice President for Institutional Research & Planning. This position is responsible for implementing an institutional program of compliance and institutional effectiveness. Collects/interprets appropriate data to inform the President, Cabinet, and campus stakeholders to assist in decision-making for campus and student successful outcomes. Supports data driven decision making and facilitates the integration of research, planning, and assessment to improve educational programs, administrative support services, academic/student support services, and community/public service; manages the University’s data warehouse. Directs and ensures the integrity of data collection, maintenance, analysis and dissemination; ensures the Office serves as a clearinghouse and secure repository for institutional data. Conducts and oversees research and analyses and development of studies, reports, surveys, dashboard, and models to support academic/administrative strategic planning and implementation of programs/initiatives. Oversees the preparation of all reports necessary to meet reporting requirements of the University, federal and state agencies, the University System of Georgia and other agencies. Prepares, tracks, monitors, and adheres to an annual budget; hires, supervises and evaluates office staff. Leads the development and implementation of an ongoing comprehensive institutional effectiveness cycle for review of all programs and units of the University; makes recommendations to improve effectiveness. Maintains a culture of evidence in all academic programs and units involving a continuous cycle of assessing learning outcomes, analyzing data, and acting on the findings to enhance and improve academic offerings. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

A doctoral degree and at least 7-10 years of successful progressively responsible experience in institutional research management and leadership experience in higher education required. Must have experience working as a liaison with SACSCOC, leading a university in the assessment calendar, preparing for re-affirmation and/or accreditation, and continuing the annual cycle of assessment of institutional effectiveness. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge and experience in research methods, statistics, including SPSS, SAS, STATA, and database management in higher education; experience in the collection of data and data analytics; program evaluation, surveying, projections, financial modeling, longitudinal and trend analysis, and data visualization also required. Must have experience with institutional effectiveness activities, accountability analysis, the assessment of program and student learning outcomes. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of advanced statistical tools and systems (BANNER, LIVETEXT, and IPEDS reporting); Blackboard Analytics, Data Warehouses, and EAB’s Student Success Collaborative. Background and/or credit check required.
