Job Summary

Savannah State University is seeking a qualified applicant to serve as a senior level administrator in the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics; in consultation with the Athletics Director, this position provides daily oversight of all athletic academics and academic operations; actively engages in all departmental affairs, long range planning and policy formulation. Provides oversight for selected sports and support units; serves as a department liaison with various campus units and community groups. Leads and supervises the athletic unit (SAS); aids in the development and implementation of programs and processes to assure the welfare of all student athletes. Assists in the identification, recruitment, hiring and retention of personnel; serves as role model and mentor for young staff. Participates in the development and implementation of DIA policies; reinforces and demonstrates adherence to a sound code of ethics. Provides leadership and counsel to coaches and unit heads; works closely with division units, campus departments and community constituent groups. Assists in scheduling non-conference games and preparation of contracts; represents the Director and the division at MEAC Academic meetings and various development and community functions. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

B.A or B.S required; graduate degree preferred. Four years of NCAA Division I or II academics and internal operations experience. A working knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations; must have working knowledge of CAi operating systems, Excel and Word software. This position is subject to a comprehensive background screen with employment contingent upon satisfactory results. A DMV check and valid driver’s license is required for access to University vehicles; background check also required.
